Junior Balkan Informatics Olympiad: 13-year-old Admir Zatega wins bronze medal

Thirteen-year-old Admir Zatega from Sarajevo has won a bronze medal for the second time at the Junior Balkan Informatics Olympiad. Admir Zatega, Hanka Goralija, Đorđe Milanović and Muhamed Hamzić, under the leadership of Lejla Ganić and Selma Borogovac, made up the team that represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Junior Balkan Informatics Olympiad in Skopje from September 17 to 22, announced the Association of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Informatics Olympiad, reports the Patria news agency.

The students proved to be the best at the State Competition in Informatics for primary school students, which was held on June 18 at the premises of the International University of Sarajevo, thus securing their placement at the Junior Balkan Informatics Olympiad.

At the Balkan Olympiad, which is held regularly every year, 39 primary school students from 9 countries participated. By solving problem tasks and competing with talented peers, they represented their home countries, as well as their own work and knowledge. The participants-competitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina achieved a solid success this year.

Thirteen-year-old Admir Zatega, a seventh-grade student at „Mehmed-beg Kapetanović Ljubušak“ Elementary School in Sarajevo, won a bronze medal for the second time, while our other competitors also achieved valuable results. This medal and other recognitions for knowledge are, above all, the result of hard work and talent of our students.

Furthermore, it is the result of the knowledge, effort and regular activities of the members of „BHOI“, who, in addition to regular annual state competitions, organize various types of additional training, practice and preparation for competitors, open-type online competitions, as well as weekly programming camps for the best ones. „BHOI“ continues its work and is already launching new activities, about which additional information can be found on their official Facebook group, or via the website www.bhoi.net.

It is certain that this success will encourage other young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina to discover their talent and achieve similar results in the future, the Association, whose president is Dr. Sci. Haris Gavranović, states.
