FK Sarajevo Academy Juniors Win Friendship Cup Against Partizan

Juniors of the Football Club Sarajevo Academy won the "Friendship Cup" today. In the final match, the Sarajevo team was more successful than Belgrade's Partizan in penalties, and the team's coach Dženan Uščuplić expressed his satisfaction after the match.

- We are glad to be first, to have finished this first edition of the tournament in Zlatibor in the best possible way. The organization was very good and we had top opponents, and in the end, we managed to reach the final and end our participation with the trophy - said Uščuplić.

He stated that such tournaments are of great importance for the children.

- We focused on our game, at times we consciously played defensively and in the end, our good approach paid off. The guys played excellently under the conditions, which required great physical exertion from them.

- After the domestic league and the Canton Cup, the junior team also won this tournament and confirmed their great potential. I believe we have reason to be satisfied, much good has been done - concluded Uščuplić.

In the group stage of the tournament, Sarajevo defeated Crvena Zvezda (2:0) and Osijek (2:1), and the only loss the team suffered was against Italian SPAL (0:2). In the semi-finals, Sarajevo defeated Vojvodina after penalties (1:1/ 4:2), and they achieved victory in today's, already mentioned final. The tournament also featured Videoton, Fenerbahce, Željezničar, Dinamo, Vojvodina, Budućnost from Podgorica, Torino, Vardar, Olimpija, Espanyol, and Udinese.
