Results for Sarajevo City Council not yet confirmed, appeal filed over councillor from Novo Sarajevo

(Patria) - The Central Election Commission published on 8 April the established results for city councillors of the City of Sarajevo from four city municipalities, but given that an appeal has been filed with the Appellate Division of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the election of a councillor in Novo Sarajevo, and a decision has not yet been received, there are still no confirmed results.

Thus, the established results for Stari Grad are: Muamer Mekić, Vedad Deljković, Adi Zahiragić, Emir Bićo, Armin Buljugić, Srđan Simonović and Željko Ler.

From Centar, the following go to the City Council: Jasmin Ademović, Alen Girt, Zvonko Ivišić, Zlatko Ilić, Sonja Mušić, Svjetlana Šošić and Amer Herenda.

From Novo Sarajevo, the following enter the City Council: Kerim Balić, Srđan Srdić, Edhem Imamović, Edison Pavlović, Mirza Ramić, Dragana Bogdanović and Armin Handžar.

The councillors from Novi Grad were the last to be elected, and they are: Nejra Džanko Zukobašić, Hana Keč, Dino Okerić, Jasmin Smječanin, Azra Čomor, Damir Filipović and Bojan Vučković.

After the Appellate Division delivers its decision, the CEC will then be able to confirm the results, unless the appeal is upheld.

The constitutive session of the City Council could be held in May, as well as the election of the new mayor. For now, the most serious candidate mentioned is Samir Avdić from the People and Justice party, who is the current councillor in Novo Sarajevo. Avdić was the deputy mayor of Benjamina Karić, and after he accepted the councillor mandate, Mirza Selimbegović from NIP was appointed as deputy mayor in his place.

After Benjamina Karić took over the mandate of head of Novo Sarajevo, the SDP nominated Predrag Puharić for mayor. He has been the mayor of Sarajevo since November.
