(Patria) - A meeting of representatives of political entities whose mandates for the City Council of the City of Sarajevo for the 2024-2028 term have been confirmed is scheduled for May 13, although the Decision on confirming and publishing the results of indirect elections and the allocation of mandates for the City Council of the City of Sarajevo was published in the Official Gazette of Bosnia and Herzegovina on April 25.
The City Administration announced that preparations are underway for holding and determining the date of the Constitutive Session of the City Council.
Given that the meeting is scheduled only for May 13, after which the date of the constitutive session should be known, it all looks like buying time for the election of a new mayor.
The parties of the Troika have not yet reached a final agreement on positions, i.e., on candidates for mayor, deputies, and the Chairperson of the City Council and deputies.
An earlier agreement was that NIP would nominate the mayor of Sarajevo, namely Samir Avdić, and the deputies would be from SDP and Our Party. The current mayor, Predrag Puharić (SDP), who was elected in November last year after Benjamina Karić took over the mandate of the head of Novo Sarajevo, has not made much of an impression on the citizens of Sarajevo, and it is devastating that in polls published by the media, citizens do not know the name of the mayor of Sarajevo. And now it is reportedly planned that he will be one of the deputies of the new mayor.
NIP, SDP and Our Party do not have much time left to reach a final agreement, and these three parties have a comfortable majority for the election of the mayor, but evidently also appetites that slow down the process of electing new city leaders. For the new mayor, 15 votes out of 28 city councilors are needed.
Composition of the City Council: Muamer Mekić, Vedad Deljković, Adi Zahiragić, Emir Bićo, Armin Buljugić, Srđan Simonović, Željko Ler, Jasmin Ademović, Alen Girt, Zvonko Ivišić, Zlatko Ilić, Sonja Mušić, Svjetlana Šošić, Amer Herenda, Kerim Balić, Srđan Srdić, Edhem Imamović, Edison Pavlović, Mirza Ramić, Dragana Bogdanović, Armin Handžar, Nejra Džanko Zukobašić, Hana Keč, Dino Okerić, Jasmin Smječanin, Azra Čomor, Damir Filipović and Bojan Vučković.
