(Patria) - More than a month after the fatal fire at the Pensioners' Home in Tuzla, which killed 17 people and injured more than 30, the public still lacks key answers about the causes and responsibility.
The Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton confirmed to BHRT that the investigation is ongoing and that the investigative team of prosecutors and police is conducting extensive investigative actions, witness interviews, analysis of documentation, and expert examinations.
It was emphasized that this is "a complex case that requires time".
For now, apart from the director's resignation, no one has been held responsible. Citizens protested for days demanding accountability, while city councilors warned that complaints about the conditions in the Home had existed for years.
In the meantime, a working group has been formed with the aim of improving conditions in the Home, which is working on issues of nutrition, healthcare, regulations, and interpersonal relationships.
After the analysis, concrete measures will be proposed.
The Prosecutor's Office assures that the case has full priority and that the investigation will be completed as soon as possible.
