Professional military service for soldiers in the Armed Forces of BiH extended to age 45 unanimously

(Patria) - The House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina continued its previously interrupted emergency session today, with the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Service in the Armed Forces of BiH on the remaining agenda, proposed by delegate Džemal Smajić and unanimously adopted.

Smajić stated in the explanation of the proposed solution that, considering the fact that the Armed Forces of BiH are significantly short of soldiers, he justifiably believes that it is more than necessary to increase the age limit for professional military service for soldiers in the Armed Forces of BiH as soon as possible, and proposes that it be up to 45 years of age.

He notes that the current law stipulates that the maximum duration of service for soldiers is up to 40 years of age, according to the needs of the service and upon meeting the standards regarding psychophysical fitness.
