Unique Football League for Primary School Students from Stari Grad

The Stari Grad Municipality continues to implement unique football leagues played by students from six primary schools in Stari Grad. Five years ago, the Stari Grad Municipality, through the Department for Education, Culture and Sports, launched this unique school competition with the aim of directing and encouraging students to engage more actively in sports. Later, leagues in basketball, volleyball, and table tennis were also launched.

In previous years, young footballers from Stari Grad have shown great desire to engage in this sport, as well as sportsmanship and a sense of fair play. Over the past years, the best results in the football leagues have been achieved by primary school students from Vratnik at the “Hamdija Kreševljaković” Elementary School, closely followed by students from Hrid at the “Šejh Muhamed ef Hadžijamaković” Elementary School and the “Edhem Mulabdić” Elementary School. Additional motivation for the students to win are the trophies and medals they receive, as well as the social gatherings and excursions organized for them by the Municipality.

The first round of the BH Telecom football league for primary schools of Stari Grad, for the 2018/2019 season, begins tomorrow, September 26, at the Small Football Center in Bentbaša. The first teams to compete will be from the “Šejh Muhamed efendija Hadžijamaković” and “Hamdija Kreševljaković” elementary schools at 2:00 PM.

The football league for primary schools of Stari Grad (2018/2019 season) is played using a double round-robin system according to FIFA futsal rules, adapted for boys up to 15 years of age. This means that in the fall of 2018, five rounds of the first part of the season will be played, and in the spring of 2019, five rounds of the second part of the season. The league is adapted to the age of primary school students, so matches are played with five players and one goalkeeper. The match schedule, i.e., the drawing of pairs, is done using the Berger table in the presence of representatives of the primary school football teams.

The league is managed by league commissioners Mehmed Janjoš, Andrej Dizdarević, and Mensud Handžić. They are responsible for the regularity of the competition and the achievement of set goals. The matches are officiated by referees delegated by the Sarajevo Canton Football Association.

Tomorrow at the Small Football Center Bentbaša, the “Mula Mustafa Bašeskija” and “Saburina” elementary schools will play at 2:45 PM, and the “Vrhbosna” and “Edhem Mulabdić” elementary schools at 3:35 PM. Since the matches are open to the public, all interested parties can come and cheer on the primary school footballers from Stari Grad.
