Is it possible: Bosnia and Herzegovina's Council of Ministers to decide on aid to Slovenia only at the end of the month?

(Patria) - The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina should urgently convene and make a decision on sending international aid to Slovenia to remedy the consequences of catastrophic floods. There is no indication of when the session will be scheduled. Officials from entity civil protection services have stated that they are ready to put their capacities and personnel at the disposal of the Slovenian population. The green light from the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina is awaited.

Images of devastating floods that hit Slovenia are circulating around the world. The first to arrive with aid are from neighboring countries, so Croatia has already sent 17 members of the Croatian Army with engineering machinery. Bosnia and Herzegovina is still waiting, awaiting a decision from the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina on providing international aid. As confirmed in an informal conversation for BHRT by the Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sevlid Hurtić, the session could be scheduled only on August 23, as it is the holiday period.

Slovenia has requested assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism in the form of heavy machinery necessary for clearing the terrain. In accordance with the EU mechanism, Bosnia and Herzegovina would be entitled to a 75 percent reimbursement of its own spent funds from the European Union, said the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nenad Nešić. If civil protection services act independently, they will not be entitled to a refund.
