(Patria) - A public hearing on the draft laws on immunity and referendum will be held today in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka.
The drafts concern the Law on Immunity of Republika Srpska and the Law on Referendum and Citizens' Initiative, which were submitted to the parliamentary procedure at the proposal of members of parliament.
The President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, will be the rapporteur on behalf of the parliament at the public hearing on the Draft Law on Immunity, which will be held at 11:00 AM, as announced by the NSRS.
The rapporteur on the Draft Law on Referendum and Citizens' Initiative, which is a proposal by members of parliament, will be the head of the SNSD Parliamentary Group, Igor Žunić.
The National Assembly of Republika Srpska adopted the Draft Law on Immunity on December 22, 2023, and sent it to a public hearing within 30 days. At the same session, the Draft Law on Referendum and Citizens' Initiative, a proposal by members of parliament, was also adopted and sent to a public hearing within 30 days.
The goal of the Law on Immunity, according to Stevandić, is to protect all institutions that implement decisions adopted in the National Assembly in practice. The Law on Immunity existed in this entity before, but it was abolished in 2002 by the then High Representative, Paddy Ashdown.
