Janković's message: The Mayor of Sarajevo should be elected directly in elections

The Mayor of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Ivo Komšić, hosted the Mayor of Ljubljana, Zoran Janković, at the City Administration premises today, reports the Patria News Agency.

During today's reception, Mayors Komšić and Janković exchanged experiences in city management and improving the quality of life for citizens. In a joint statement to the media, Janković emphasized:

- I have said this before and I will repeat it: in such a system of government, I would never be the Mayor of Sarajevo, who practically has no executive power, except to be blamed for everything as the head of the City.

He believes that, based on the experiences of Vienna, Ljubljana, and Zagreb, the Mayor of Sarajevo should be elected directly in elections, as this gives him the legitimacy to change and improve life in the city.

- Three levels of government: municipality, city, canton, hinder the development of the city of Sarajevo, said Janković.
