Meeting of Bosnian Political Party Leaders with EU Officials Suddenly Cancelled

(Patria) - The meeting of leaders of political parties from BiH and heads of BiH institutions with EU officials has been cancelled, Istraga.ba has learned.

The meeting was supposed to be held today and tomorrow in Brussels, but was cancelled because BiH authorities did not adopt key reform laws on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) and the Court of BiH.
Recall, the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Borjana Krišto, was supposed to lead a delegation of officials from Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the leaders of the five ruling parties in the country whose parties form the majority, along with entity and cantonal premiers, while on the other side they were to be received by the Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi.

The leader of HDZ BiH, Dragan Čović, expressed optimism as before.

“We will go through all the topics and it seems to me, if we showed very clear openness and that we all want the same thing, then we are very close to having this process declared positive in December. Not to exaggerate, we will show a very clear European commitment and define these five or six things that remain, from the Election Law, the Budget first of all, the Law on Conflict of Interest, and a few other solutions that are recognised as a minimum to give us a clear signal about opening the negotiation process. I am optimistic,” said Čović.
