Izetbegović visited by delegation of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs

(Patria) - President of the Party of Democratic Action Bakir Izetbegović met today with a delegation of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET).

The meeting discussed the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the current situation in the country.

President Izetbegović warned of the detrimental consequences of the separatist policy pursued by the former president of the RS entity, Milorad Dodik, emphasizing that such actions directly slow down progress, block reform processes, and threaten peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

Izetbegović expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that the current ruling coalition, although Bosnia and Herzegovina received preliminary approval in March 2024 to open negotiations with the European Union, has to date not fulfilled even the minimum necessary conditions to obtain a date and begin that process.

Particular concern was highlighted regarding the fact that the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina has still not managed to agree on the Reform Program within the Growth Plan, due to which the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina already lost 108 million euros in European Union aid in July, and will lose an equal amount if that document is not agreed upon by the end of September.

Izetbegović emphasized the unreserved support of the Party of Democratic Action for all processes that lead Bosnia and Herzegovina towards membership in the European Union, strengthening institutions, and improving the quality of life of citizens.

The AFET delegation was led by Tonino Picula, Michal Szczerba, Marta Temido, Christophe Gomart, and Helmut Brandstatter.

Accompanying this delegation was the head of the EU Delegation, Luigi Soreca.
