The BiH Presidency, chaired from today by Bosniak member Bakir Izetbegović (SDA), expects a series of high-level interstate meetings, including a visit from Pope Francis in June.
The 100th anniversary of the Sarajevo assassination and the beginning of World War I on June 28 will be marked then, confirmed to the Patria News Agency (NAP) from Izetbegović's cabinet. However, the Pope's visit is not yet fully confirmed, nor will details about it be known before everything is agreed upon.
As NAP learns, despite this, Izetbegović expects a busy mandate at the head of the state leadership, with a series of bilateral and multilateral activities planned with top state officials from around the world.
The BiH Presidency has sent invitations to the presidents of France, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Romania, Greece, Bulgaria, Slovenia, and Montenegro for official visits to BiH, but it is not yet known which of these visits will be realized during Izetbegović's mandate.
- Participation in the summit of regional presidents, which will be held in mid-July in Dubrovnik within the Brdo Process, is planned, and Izetbegović will represent BiH at the NATO summit in Great Britain in early September. Also, participation in the regular general debate of the United Nations General Assembly at the end of September is planned – says a source close to Izetbegović's cabinet for NAP.
