Izetbegović receives medal winners from the Summer Olympics for persons with disabilities

Member of the BiH Presidency Bakir Izetbegović received the winners of gold and silver medals at the Summer Olympics for persons with intellectual disabilities and representatives of the Association „Oaza“, reports the Patria news agency.

The meeting discussed the exceptionally good results of our athletes at this year's Summer Olympics for persons with intellectual disabilities in Los Angeles, as well as the need for greater investment in sports at all levels.

Member of the BiH Presidency Bakir Izetbegović received a delegation from the Association for Support of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities „Oaza“, which included the Chairman of the Management Board Mithat Karahmet, Executive Director Armin Smajlović, and the winners of gold and silver medals at this year's Summer Olympics for persons with intellectual disabilities in Los Angeles, swimmer Adnan Pribišić (event, 25 m breaststroke) and athlete Almin Bjelica (event, 200 m running). The meeting was also attended by the selector of the SOBiH swimming team, Samir Halilović.

Izetbegović congratulated Adnan Pribišić and Almin Bjelica on their achievements, emphasizing the great significance of every Olympic medal won. He reiterated his belief that sports and athletes in BiH make an exceptional contribution to the international affirmation of our country. He also extended congratulations for this valuable success to the leaders of the Association „Oaza“ and the selector of the SOBiH swimming team, Samir Halilović.

 

Executive Director of the Association „Oaza“ Armin Smajlović thanked Member of the BiH Presidency Bakir Izetbegović for the congratulations and continuous support he provides to sports and athletes, as well as to the non-governmental sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He spoke about the past successes of the Association and its members, and about the planned future activities.

 

The interlocutors agreed that such success should serve as additional motivation for institutions at all levels to ensure more significant support for sports in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
