Izetbegović: What Dodik is doing reminds me of the log policy; the 'Kovačević' verdict is welcome

(Patria) - President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović expressed hope that today there will be no interruption of traffic on the entity line, which would represent anti-Dayton activity, and that in that case EUFOR would have to react.

Before the session of the SDA Main Board, Izetbegović told reporters that such a blockade would constitute a violation of the Criminal Code.

- This reminds me of the 'log revolution', when politics was conducted by placing logs on the road. We hope that today they will not go in that direction, although what Milorad Dodik is doing really, with his arrogance, reminds me of the log policy - said Izetbegović, referring to blockades of the work of parliament and integration processes into the EU and NATO, unconstitutional referendums, awarding convicted war criminals, awarding the President of Russia at the time of aggression against Ukraine, defiant denial of genocide, and opposition to the decisions of the High Representative.

Izetbegović believes that it is time to ensure that all people in BiH are equal before the law.

- The rule of law does not apply to the President of RS, Milorad Dodik. He can buy a villa in Belgrade and not prove where he got a million euros, he can acquire an icon and give it to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, without proving the origin of the icon. He can deny genocide, violate direct laws, oppose the decisions of the High Representative - said Izetbegović.

He expects that an indictment against Dodik will be confirmed and that the judiciary will start doing its job.

Izetbegović also commented on the increase in cases of peer and domestic violence against returnees.

- It is time for an organized, strong social action to strengthen the judiciary on this issue - said Izetbegović.

He recalled that a few days ago, a letter from the association of war victims arrived at the OHR, confirming a very important thing: that in the police structure of the RS, there should be 18 percent Bosniaks, Croats and others, but there are only 6 percent.

- We must all stand with the association of war victims - emphasized Izetbegović.

Commenting on the verdict of the European Court of Human Rights in the case of Slaven Kovačević, he said that this verdict reminded him of earlier ones that, as he assessed, had slowly begun to fade into the shadows.

- Some tried to abuse the Sejdić-Finci verdict to ease the ethnic principle. So it came at the right moment, because it will prevent some attempts to strengthen the ethnic principle in the functionality of Bosnia and Herzegovina - believes the SDA president.

He is of the opinion that this verdict must be a basic and fundamental factor in all negotiations that possibly relate to amendments to the Election Law.

He also commented on the work of the ruling parties, SDP BiH, People and Justice, and Our Party, assessing that the Troika "gives in on a daily basis".

- Last week, in one day, we had three things that needed to be justified, regarding the Bosnian language, then the new 100 million KM that the RS will receive from VAT after the appointment of the Minister of Finance, and regarding the statement by Nenad Stevandić that the closure of the OHR was agreed with the Troika - said Izetbegović.

He also stated that he is not satisfied with the work of the Government of the Federation of BiH, because he believes that full budgets and ready-made laws were left to them.

- They left them laws that should relieve the economy, improve the status of workers, and enable salary increases. We don't know what is being waited for. Four to five months have already passed - said Izetbegović.

He also stated that the SDA is dedicated to preparations for the upcoming congress, which will gather around 1,300 participants, reports FAKTOR.
