Izetbegović: SDA's outstanding result in local elections heralds an even greater victory in 2026.

(Patria) - SDA President Bakir Izetbegović visited Travnik today, where he met with the leadership of the Cantonal Board of the Central Bosnia Canton, newly elected municipal mayors and councilors, and SDA officials from all levels of government.

Izetbegović congratulated the leadership of the Cantonal Board and municipal organizations in the Central Bosnia Canton, as well as all candidates on the exceptional result achieved by the SDA in the recent Local Elections.

It was stated that the SDA, with over 42,000 votes won and 99 council seats, which represents a significant increase compared to the previous Local Elections, has confirmed its status as the strongest political organization in the Central Bosnia Canton.

In addition to the above, the SDA won five out of a total of 12 mayoral seats.

- The SDA achieved an outstanding result, with a growth of 27 percent in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina compared to the previous elections. We are two and a half times stronger than the next party in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

With 499 councilors, we grew to 555. This result heralds an even greater victory in two years - said Izetbegović.

The trust of the voters, he added, is a testament to the correct policies pursued by the SDA.

- This brought results, as well as the fact that we have rejuvenated. Among our candidates for mayors and on our lists were a large number of young, educated, and capable individuals whom the people recognized and entrusted with their vote - emphasizes Izetbegović.

Speaking about the upcoming General Elections, Izetbegović stressed the need to strengthen the SDA's coalition capacity and create a strong pro-Bosnian bloc that will be able to respond to all upcoming challenges.

The work of the Government of the Central Bosnia Canton, led by Prime Minister Tahir Lendo, which has continued the development of the canton in the current mandate, was welcomed at the meeting.

Discussions also covered the recent floods in Fojnica and Kiseljak, as well as the remediation of their consequences and the prevention of similar situations in the future.
