
(Patria) - In accordance with the Instruction on the deadlines for electoral activities for holding early elections for the Mayor of Stari Grad Sarajevo Municipality, the electoral campaign began on Saturday, 14.10.2023, and lasts until 28.10.2023 until 07:00 AM, when the election silence begins.
The election silence lasts until the polling stations close, i.e., until 29.10.2023 at 7:00 PM.
"Electoral campaign" means actions and procedures within the established period in which a political entity, in a legally defined manner, informs voters and the public about its program and candidates for the upcoming elections.
The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina calls on political parties, candidates, and their supporters to adhere to the rules of conduct in the electoral campaign prescribed in Chapter 7 and Chapter 16 of the Election Law of BiH, as well as on the media to respect the provisions of Chapter 16 of the Election Law of BiH and the deadlines prescribed by the Instruction on the deadlines for electoral activities for holding early elections for the Mayor of Stari Grad Sarajevo Municipality.
In accordance with the Decision on closing and confirming the number of registered voters in the Central Voter Register for the early elections for the Mayor of Stari Grad Sarajevo Municipality, adopted by the Central Election Commission of BiH at its 66th session held on 11.10.2023, a total of 36,195 voters are registered in the Central Voter Register, as of 09.10.2023 at 12:00 AM, including 35,601 regular voters, 8 voters registered to vote in person, and 586 voters registered to vote by mail.
It is estimated that the costs within the jurisdiction of the Central Election Commission of BiH for the early elections in Stari Grad Sarajevo Municipality will cost 89,500 KM, while the municipality will incur additional costs for paying compensation to members of polling station committees and other minor expenses, so the total costs for conducting these early elections will be known after the elections are held.
We remind you that the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has certified the candidacies of Irfan Čengić (SDP-Social Democratic Party of BiH) and Dženan Selimbegović (SDA-Party of Democratic Action) to participate in the early elections for the Mayor of Stari Grad Sarajevo Municipality.
In accordance with the provisions of Article 15.10 of the Election Law of BiH, the maximum amount of funds that a political entity can spend to finance the electoral campaign in the early elections for the Mayor of Stari Grad Sarajevo Municipality is 10,858.50 KM.
Early elections for the Mayor of Stari Grad Sarajevo Municipality will be held on Sunday, 29.10.2023.
