SNSD announced they will not support the abolition of fuel excise duties

(Patria) - The head of the SNSD caucus in the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sanja Vulić, says that her party will not support the proposal to abolish or reduce fuel excise duties.

Vulić defends such a position by claiming that "instant solutions to complex problems can lead to serious consequences for the financial stability of institutions and the functioning of Bosnia and Herzegovina".

She assesses that the proposal by her colleague Saša Magazinović (SDP) to abolish or reduce fuel excise duties, which he submitted to the parliamentary procedure, is a classic example of populist politics that does not aim to solve problems in the long term, but rather to pave the way for an election campaign.

- Instead of a serious and responsible approach to economic challenges, we are once again witnessing attempts to gain cheap political points through attractive but ill-considered measures - emphasizes Vulić.

She adds that Magazinović is already known for offering instant solutions to complex problems, without a serious analysis of the consequences such decisions can have on the financial stability of institutions and the functioning of BiH.

- Unfortunately, it seems that he is not interested in the long-term effects of such proposals - Vulić stressed.

She also stated that SNSD will not support this kind of adventurism, because the abolition or significant reduction of fuel excise duties would directly threaten the stability of the budget at the BiH level and potentially jeopardize the regular servicing of institutional obligations, including the payment of salaries to employees and other financial obligations.

Vulić added that responsible policy implies making decisions that are sustainable and do not risk the financial stability of the system, not short-term moves that sound good in the pre-election atmosphere but can produce serious, negative consequences.
