Islamic Community produces Ramadan program to be offered to BiH TV stations free of charge

The Islamic Community of BiH, in cooperation with BIR Radio-Television, is preparing a special religious TV series that will be broadcast during the month of Ramadan via several TV stations in BiH.

The IC will offer this religious series to all TV stations in BiH completely free of charge.

BIR Director Nedim Hrbat told the BiH news agency Patria that commercial TV stations in BiH have had good Ramadan programs so far, watched by thousands of viewers in BiH and the diaspora every year, but that the IC wanted to take a step further and offer new content that will refresh the media space in BiH during the holy Muslim month.

- Commercial TV stations offer content they can commercialize, which is understandable given their funding model. Now the IC will try to contribute in a different way, through a series of shows that will be more spiritual in nature – said Hrbat, adding that this project has additional significance as it is the first time the IC is working in this manner.

The first day of Ramadan in 2015 falls on Thursday, June 18. This month is a month of obligatory fasting for all adult, healthy Muslims.

The month of Ramadan sometimes has 29 and sometimes 30 days. Muslims abstain from food, drink, and physical desires from dawn until sunset, writes NAP.
