2,222 believers traveling for Hajj from Bosnia and Herzegovina: Preparations completed, first flight on May 16 from Sarajevo

(Patria) - Organized by the Hajj and Umrah Office of the Riyaset of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2,222 pilgrims will travel for Hajj this year, with the departure of the first group planned for May 16 from Sarajevo International Airport, from where they will travel to Jeddah.

Head of the Hajj and Umrah Office, Dževad Hadžić, stated that final preparations are nearing completion and that all planned educational sessions have been successfully realized.

– We had organized ikrar prayers in all muftiates, and they have all been completed. The guides did an excellent job. Each guide conducted an educational session with their group and sent us a report. Those who could not attend these educational sessions in person had them conducted online, so all our pilgrims are trained and have gone through all the preparations that we had outlined in our plan – said Hadžić.

He added that the guides will monitor the implementation of all rites foreseen by the program, emphasizing that pilgrims should not have any additional worries.

– We will plan everything for them, and their only task is to follow the guides' recommendations and take care of their health – Hadžić conveyed.

This year, the Office has again focused a special segment of the organization on female believers, for which religious consultants have been engaged to accompany them throughout the preparation process and their stay in the holy sites.

Religious consultant of the Office, Prof. Fatima Memija, is traveling to Mecca on Friday, May 8, to, along with the rest of the team, participate in the preparation of accommodation facilities, the medical office, the kitchen, and the implementation of remaining technical details for the pilgrims' multi-week stay in Mecca and Medina.

– This year, 1034 future female pilgrims are going for Hajj from Bosnia and Herzegovina. As part of the preparations for going on Hajj, educational sessions were organized where religious consultants thoroughly prepared the female pilgrims for this most important journey in life. During these lectures, the female pilgrims were informed about all the rules of Hajj, as well as about the preparation for this most important life journey. Special attention was paid to specific female issues and regulations related to those conditions, as they are of exceptional importance for the correct performance of Hajj rites – said Memija.

A total of 47 guides, 14 medical staff members, six religious consultants, and a technical team that will ensure logistical support throughout the entire journey will be available to the future pilgrims. A total of 2,222 believers from Bosnia and Herzegovina will perform Hajj this year.
