(Patria) - Former Vice Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH (2010-2014) Jerko Ivanković Lijanović commented on the latest developments at Aluminij Mostar, stating that irreparable damage has been done
to both the workers of Aluminij and to FBiH as a 44% owner of Aluminij, as well as to Elektroprivreda HZHB, which is almost 100% owned, and to the shareholders of Aluminij.
"The ownership and management structure of Aluminij should have been handed over to Elektroprivreda HZHB and Elektroprivreda BiH in order to establish economically sustainable production of electricity and aluminum, as was originally envisioned when these giants were built. In this way, we would have saved the electricity companies' claims of 300 million KM, preserved jobs, and ensured long-term development for these companies and all the subcontractors that depended on them. This situation is just another confirmation that we need changes and leadership that understands the economy and knows how to manage state resources in a quality and responsible
manner. The price of shutting down this giant will unfortunately be paid by Aluminij workers, shareholders, and residents of FBiH who use electricity, because they will have to pay very high prices to cover the debts created by incompetent management of these resources," concluded Lijanović.
