Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport dedicated several articles to Bosnia and Herzegovina's victory over Italy, one of which describes the atmosphere in the two camps. This media outlet ultimately admits that BiH's victory is deserved.
A devastating night for Italian football ended worse than could have been imagined. On one side, Italy, landing at Malpensa in complete silence. The pictures say it all: Donnarumma shocked, silent, in civilian clothes. Manchester awaits him. Bastoni isolated, on the phone, lost in thoughts about 2026, a year he wants to forget.
In contrast, images arriving from Bosnia: celebrations on the pitch, then with fans in Sarajevo, and finally a party at a nightclub. At dawn, Edin Džeko, an extraordinary champion without time and without age, with a brace on his shoulder, decides to start an Instagram live to recount a night that he and his people would like to never end.
It is an incredible contrast: the silence of Italy, with players in shock because the truth is that the team was convinced it could secure a spot at the World Cup. The song of Bosnia, which, with two matches of 120 minutes each and two almost perfect penalty shootouts, deservedly secured a place at the World Cup in America.
And that is why – it was logical that it would end like this: everyone silent and heads bowed in Italy, heads held high and music in Bosnia.
