(Patria) - The Iranian delegation did not travel to Pakistan for peace negotiations with the United States, Iranian state television reported, denying earlier claims by some international media about their arrival in Islamabad and scheduled talks.
According to Iranian state media, neither teams for technical, preliminary talks nor the main negotiating delegation traveled to the Pakistani capital. This was confirmed ahead of the expiration of the two-week truce.
Tehran states that negotiations will not be conducted "in the shadow of threats and violations of agreements," and emphasizes that any possible continuation of talks with the US will depend on whether Washington softens its stance. Details on possible changes are not yet known.
The key point of contention remains the US naval blockade of Iranian ships and ports. US President Donald Trump said on the social network Truth Social that the blockade will remain in place until an agreement is reached.
According to security sources in Pakistan, Iran conditioned its participation in the talks precisely on the lifting of the blockade. The two-week truce between the US, Israel and Iran expires on Wednesday, and Trump previously stated that its extension is "very unlikely" without reaching an agreement.
