High Representative in BiH, Valentin Inzko, addressed members of cantonal assemblies in Bosanskopodrinjski, Sarajevo, Tuzla, Unsko-sanski, and Zenica-Doboj cantons by letter on Thursday to ensure that assemblies in these cantons elect delegates to the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, the BiH news agency Patria (NAP) reported.
In his letter, the High Representative reminded the five cantonal assemblies of their obligation under the provisions of the Constitution of the FBiH and the Election Law of BiH, and warned that the deadline had passed and that they had not fulfilled their obligation to elect delegates from their cantonal assemblies.
The High Representative called on the cantonal assemblies to fulfill their obligation and elect delegates to the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament without further delay.
- It is understood that as long as the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament and the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly are not formed, these levels will not be able to adopt the reform measures needed to resolve the serious social and economic problems of this country - warned the High Representative in his letter.
The High Representative also praised the Central Election Commission of BiH and expressed support for that institution for the efforts it has made in resolving this issue, according to the OHR statement, NAP reported.
