(Patria) - Working meetings regarding the Southern Gas Interconnection have been held at the US Embassy in Sarajevo for days, especially after the FBiH Government determined amendments to the law and sent it to parliamentary procedure. Sessions of the houses have not yet been scheduled, and at yesterday's press conference, the president of HDZ BiH, Dragan Čović, said he expects these amendments to be adopted by the end of the week.
An announcement of a meeting on Wednesday, April 1, has arrived from the BiH Presidency today, and Presidency members will receive John Ginkel, Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy, and the leadership of the company AAFS Infrastructure and Energy LLC.
The proposed amendments to the law on the Southern Interconnection introduce an American investor, the company AAFS Infrastructure and Energy LLC, which is registered in Sarajevo and is wholly owned by the American company AAFS Infrastructure and Energy LLC, while BH-Gas is completely excluded from the law.
Transparency International in BiH issued a press release yesterday in which they stated that such amendments introducing an investor into the law represent a dangerous precedent and as such carry the risk of serious damage to the public interest.
