Inspectorate Warns GRAS and Centrotrans, Building Managers of Obligations During Snowfall

(Patria) - The Inspectorate for Urban-Construction, Housing, Communal Services, Environmental Protection, Nature Protection, and Heritage Protection, through its communal services and housing inspectorates, has issued warnings to entities under its supervision in communal areas regarding their legal obligations during snowfall, aiming to protect public health, safety, and interest, on January 5, 2026.

Notices have been sent to GRAS and Centrotrans for urgent action regarding the cleaning of bus stops. Additionally, notices have been sent to nine building managers in the Sarajevo Canton (KS) concerning snow removal, ice removal, and facade condition checks.

In the interest of public good in communal services, and in accordance with Article 49 of the Law on Communal Cleanliness of KS, both transport companies have been called upon to take measures and actions to remove snow from the bus stops they use and manage, and to salt these areas. They are also required to inform the competent inspectorate about the measures taken.

Given that snowfall can lead to an increased number of facade collapses and the danger of icicles, the housing inspectorate has, as a preventive measure, warned all nine building managers in KS about their obligations stipulated by Articles 37, 38, 39, and 41 of the Law on Management of Common Parts of Buildings and Article 5 of the Instruction on the Method of Reporting and Rectifying Defects. In this regard, the aforementioned entities have been warned to urgently undertake the legally prescribed activities in cooperation with representatives of co-owners, co-owners, and other competent authorities, with the diligence of a good businessman, to fulfill the managers' obligations, all in order to prevent potential undesirable consequences through preventive action.

Simultaneously, all legal and natural persons are urged to participate in snow removal in accordance with their legal obligations, with the note that communal cleanliness on the ground is monitored by communal wardens.
