The most famous football coach from this region, Miroslav Ćiro Blažević, supports the initiative to play a charity match between footballers from the former Yugoslavia and the rest of the world, he said in a statement to the BiH news agency Patria.
Namely, according to media reports, there is consideration in Serbia to organize a match between players from the former Yugoslavia and the rest of the world, and the proceeds from the match would be paid for humanitarian purposes for the affected areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Croatia.
- They can count on me - said the popular Ćiro.
- If this initiative is serious, they can count on my help. I think this is a good opportunity for such a match. Footballers are humane people. There is no footballer who would not respond to such a match - Ćiro told Patria.
The idea, according to Serbian media, is to have Ivanović, Matić, Jovetić, Mandžukić, Džeko, Handanović and others on one side, and Ronaldo, Messi... on the other.
50 years ago in Skopje, which was hit by a catastrophic earthquake, a similar charity football match was organized between Yugoslavia and the rest of the world, where the funds went to the reconstruction of the Macedonian capital.
This duel could be played in Skopje, thus marking the mentioned anniversary. However, the possibility of playing three matches, i.e., one in each country affected by the disaster, should not be ruled out, Patria reports.
