Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, a world-renowned humanist, peacemaker and spiritual leader from India, will visit Bosnia and Herzegovina on April 27 as part of his world tour promoting peace, and will hold a lecture titled “A Voice for Peace and Human Values” at the Bosnian Cultural Centre in Sarajevo starting at 7 p.m., reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.
On that day, citizens from Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria and other countries of Southeast Europe will come to Sarajevo.
He will be officially received in Sarajevo by Bakir Izetbegović, a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Shankar's vision of a stress-free and violence-free society has united millions of people worldwide through community service projects and programmes of the Art of Living Foundation, of which he is the founder. The message of the spiritual teacher and peacemaker is: “The whole world is one family.”
The Art of Living involves yoga and breathing techniques that reduce stress, strengthen immunity and improve mood. These techniques are taught in more than 150 countries around the world.
Who is Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
He was born in 1956 in southern India, studied Vedic literature, and also graduated in physics. He is the recipient of numerous international recognitions, awards, honorary doctorates and professorships, and has been nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The Art of Living has special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), participates in the work of many advisory bodies, and carries out numerous activities and humanitarian projects in the areas of health, education, sustainable development, women's empowerment, prisoner rehabilitation, conflict resolution, and recovery from natural disasters and terrorist attacks.
The Art of Living association has been active in Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2000, implementing programmes of the International Art of Living Foundation. The association's headquarters are in Tuzla.
