Names of 21 athletes representing BiH at EYOF 2019

SARAJEVO, EAST SARAJEVO (Patria) - From February 9 to 16, Sarajevo and East Sarajevo will host the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF). 46 delegations comprising 750 athletes, coaches, and other members have confirmed their participation. 150 media crews have been accredited, and thousands of volunteers are preparing for this celebration of sport, the most significant after the 14th Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo in 1984.

Athletes will compete in eight disciplines – snowboard, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, ice hockey, speed skating, figure skating, biathlon, and curling at venues prepared on the Olympic mountains of Jahorina, Bjelašnica, Igman, and in the halls at Pale, Juan Antonio Samaranch, and Skenderija.

BiH's colours will be defended by 21 competitors in the disciplines of snowboard, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and biathlon, and speed skating.

Selina Memić and Asja Klačar will represent our country in snowboarding, as many as 10 competitors in biathlon and cross-country skiing, of whom eight will compete in both disciplines, and two competitors only in cross-country skiing. Eight competitors will compete in alpine skiing. In total, the BiH delegation of athletes and coaches numbers more than 30 members.

In alpine skiing, Nina Petrović (2001), Esma Alić (2002), Aiša Kantardžić (2002), Ajlin Zuhrić (2002), Harun Kunovac (2001), Salih Hasanbegović (2002), Kemal Karić (2002), and Strahinja Arnaut (2002) will compete.

In cross-country skiing and biathlon, Marija Jokić (2002), Anđela Samardžija (2002), Andrija Jugović (2001), Luka Vrećo (2001), Aleksa Vuković (2002), Predrag Pantić (2002), Uroš Lalović (2002), Davor Škipina (2002) will compete. In cross-country skiing, we have two representatives, Nikola Gavrilović (2002) and Đorđe Santrač (2002).

In speed skating, BiH will be represented by Sumeja Zaimović.

The official opening ceremony of EYOF will be held on February 10 at the Asim Ferhatović Hase stadium, and the closing ceremony in East Sarajevo at the FK Slavija stadium.
