Imamović for NAP on the incident: There was no other way to draw attention to the problems

(Patria)  - During the commemoration of 27 years since the massacre committed on May 27, 1992 in Sarajevo's Ferhadija street, while people were waiting in line for bread, an incident occurred after the representative of the Association of Civil War Victims of Sarajevo Canton, Senita Imamović, did not allow the address of the President of the Union of Civil War Victims, Senida Karović.

Imamović has been pointing out problems in the Union for some time, but notes that there is not much understanding for this population in the Government of Sarajevo Canton. A major incident was prevented by the Minister of Social Affairs Malik Garibija.

Imamović stated in an interview with the Patria agency that she could no longer tolerate "that no one reacts to the crime in the Union and the way this population is treated," which is why she decided on the incident during the commemoration of the anniversary of the suffering on this street.  

„Karović reproaches me for Our Party. How shameless of her. The Union has done nothing for us all these years. They are the ones working for politics. We demand an urgent resolution of accumulated problems, and no more slowly, the situation is - either them or us. I publicly promise that no one will lay flowers anywhere anymore until the problems are resolved. With our bodies, we will not allow the Union of Civil War Victims and politicians to lay flowers anymore“, said Imamović.

She emphasizes that she regrets that such a reaction occurred today, but stated that "obviously, one cannot reach the goal in a dignified and cultured manner."

„Here, until you speak publicly, until an incident occurs, no one reacts. Enough of being treated like this“, added Imamović.

At the Assembly of the Association of "Civil War Victims" of Sarajevo Canton, where the Association's work program for 2019 was presented, Pandora's box was opened. Senita Imamović, President of the Association of Civil War Victims of Sarajevo Canton, informed the gathered civil war victims, more than a hundred of them, about the events in the Union of Civil War Victims. All irregularities in the work of the Union of Civil War Victims prompted Imamović and others, as they stated, to separate from the work of the Union.

„This association is not newly opened. For 25 years, no one has spoken on behalf of civil war victims, and now it is a different story; if necessary, we will sit in the Assembly of the Union. We also requested in writing the cessation of funding for the Union“, Imamović said then.

She pointed out that Muzafer Teskeredžić has been the Secretary of the Union of Civil War Victims for 23 years, and Senida Karović has been the President of the Union for 11 years. Serious suspicions of corrupt activities were raised by Imamović and others in the Assembly regarding the employment of the Federal Fund for Employment of Persons with Disabilities. Allegedly, persons who were employed were forced to give half of their salary to the Union every month!
