IGK on the Request of Serbian Organizations in Chicago: Anti-Bosnian Coalition Wants to Change Historical Facts About the Aggression on Bosnia and Herzegovina

(Patria) - The Institute for Genocide Research from Canada has responded to the request of Serbian organizations and communities in Chicago to the city councilors to establish a Day of Remembrance for civilian Serbian victims of Srebrenica in Chicago.

The IGK reminds that the Chicago City Council unanimously adopted on July 19 this year the historic Resolution on the Srebrenica Genocide, designating July 11 as a day of remembrance for the victims of the genocide. The Resolution committed Chicago to commemorate the victims of the Srebrenica genocide on that date every year.

Immediately after the adoption of the Resolution, Serbs in Chicago and their organizations, communities, the Serbian church, Serbian cultural societies, the Serbian Congress, and all other community organizations launched an action and campaign for the Chicago City Council to revoke the Resolution it adopted on July 19. This would be the first time after the Srebrenica genocide that a city in the world would revoke its own Resolution. This would be a major blow to truth and justice, but also a great moral blow to the city of Chicago, the mayor who signed the Resolution, the members of the City Council, and all friends of truth and justice in Chicago.

When they failed in that, the leaders of Serbian organizations and communities in Chicago are asking city leaders to erect a memorial for alleged Serbian victims in Srebrenica. They also ask the Chicago City Councilors to establish an alleged day of remembrance for civilian Serbian victims of Srebrenica. We quote the anti-civilizational propaganda pamphlet of Serbs in Chicago:

"We demand from the Chicago City Councilors to establish a Day of Remembrance for civilian Serbian victims of Srebrenica, of whom there were more between 1992 and 1995 than Bosniak ones, just as there are certainly several times more Serbian voters in Chicago than Bosniak ones."

The IGK, through the culture of remembrance and memory, fights against the culture of forgetting, against genocide deniers, against those who deny international law and justice, who deny the United Nations and the judgments of United Nations courts. Revisionists of historical, scientific, and judicial facts about the aggression and genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and glorifiers of convicted war criminals, as essential elements of anti-Bosnian policy, increasingly use anti-Bosnian diplomacy in lobbying against truth and justice.

The goal of the united anti-Bosnian coalition, which is particularly active in North America, is an attempt to change the content of historical facts about the aggression on Bosnia and Herzegovina. And the ultimate goal of the anti-Bosnian coalition is lobbying the American and Canadian political, academic, and cultural establishment to equate the victim and the perpetrator in the name of the partition of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The IGK opposed this, considering it an unprecedented venting of rage on the surviving victims of aggression and genocide, which the science of genocide has not known until now.

The culture of memory implies that the greatest crimes in Europe after the Holocaust should be considered using science and research, because the fight against revisionists of history, genocide deniers, and glorifiers of crimes and criminals is not possible only with emotions. Only scientific research findings can be a lasting basis for developing our abilities in the timely detection, identification, prevention, and punishment of the crime of genocide, in which genocide researchers have a historical role and responsibility. This is what bothers the members of the anti-Bosnian coalition in Chicago who issue threats. They are particularly bothered by the fact that the IGK influences the consciousness of people and their collectives regarding the understanding of the need to unite all human forces in the fight against genocide, which leads to scientific truth, which it presents to the public in a timely and adequate manner, thereby warning of the numerous dimensions of genocide, which is one of the possible adequate forms of preventive strategic activity.

The IGK has reduced the space for numerous lies, forgeries, and forgers of history, and has influenced the consciousness, behavior, statements, and actions of individuals, certain social entities, and social groups that deny, i.e., negate the genocide and glorify crime and criminals.

The question of the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the question of establishing and recognizing the truth about the aggression and genocide against its citizens and justice for the victims of those crimes. The first prerequisite for that is to speak publicly, to speak decisively about it. To oppose those who betray truth and justice, who seek to obstruct it. Our obligation is to follow the path of truth and justice," the IGK states.
