(Patria) - The Institute for Genocide Research Canada (IGK) issued a statement tonight after the US imposed sanctions on Željka Cvijanović, Nenad Stevandić, Radovan Višković, and Miloš Bukejlović for undermining the Dayton Peace Agreement.
The IGK recalls that they have repeatedly written and warned about the extremely dangerous behavior of the leaders of the RS entity, which poses a serious threat to peace and stability in the region and particularly jeopardizes the stability, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international legal and political subjectivity of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"The actions of the political leadership, as well as the opposition in the RS entity, are continuously aimed at breaking up the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Such anti-state behavior represents a further threat to the future path of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its successful integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions.
The expanded US sanctions ensure the preservation and strengthening of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. On the other hand, the sanctions also reveal the true image of the RS entity and its anti-Bosnian, anti-state, secessionist policies," the IGK stated.
They once again called on all relevant political actors in the world to ensure the normal functioning of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, not only through sanctions but also through other concrete measures.
"For Bosnia and Herzegovina, we seek only what has already yielded results in the democratic world," the IGK emphasized.
