Remains of Six-Month-Old Girl Identified

(Patria) - Another victim of the past war has been identified at the Memorial Center in Tuzla.

The victim is of Bosniak ethnicity, a baby girl who was only six months old at the time of her death. The girl's identity was first established through DNA analysis, after which her family members confirmed the obtained identity.

The identified victim is Paraganlija Almera, born in November 1991 in Joševa near Bratunac. She went missing in May 1992, and her remains were exhumed from a grave discovered at the Joševa site in Bratunac in October 2021. During the exhumation in which the remains of little Almera were found, two mass graves and one individual grave were discovered, and a total of five victims were exhumed at that time.

It was then determined that the remains belonged to three women and two girls. Subsequently, two women and one girl were identified, and it was established that all the victims were actually related.

The mother of little Almera has not yet been identified. The previously identified victims, Paraganlija Rukija, Safija, and Amira, were buried at the Memorial Center and the "Veljaci" martyrs' cemetery in Bratunac in May 2023.
