Man killed at Trump's estate identified, White House comments

(Patria) - American media have identified the man killed by agents at President Donald Trump's resort in Florida as 21-year-old Austin Tucker Martin.

Investigators had previously said that the disappearance of the man from North Carolina was reported by his family a few days ago.

Agents shot him with a fatal shot when he attempted to "unlawfully enter a secured perimeter" at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach.

He raised a shotgun when told to drop the weapon and a gas canister, the Secret Service said.

Although the White House spokesperson commented, the president himself has not yet commented today on his Truth Social account about the incident.

"In the middle of the night, while most Americans were sleeping, the United States Secret Service acted quickly and decisively to neutralize a madman, armed with a gun and a gas canister, who broke into President Trump's house," said Karoline Leavitt, White House press secretary.

Home cameras are becoming increasingly important tools for law enforcement and could help shed light on the incident at Mar-a-Lago, Ken Gray, a retired FBI special agent, told Sky News.

"We live in a surveillance society. We have cameras absolutely everywhere... so it's not surprising that they are looking at home cameras to try to uncover any suspicious activity in that neighborhood," he stated.

He says the FBI, which is leading the investigation, will check the suspect's background, which includes talking to his friends and parents and searching his social media and devices.
