(Patria) - Mayor of Trnovo Municipality Ibro Berilo was urgently operated on at UKC Tuzla, his lawyer Senad Pizović confirmed for Hayat.ba.

Due to this surgery, it is questionable whether Berilo will appear before the Cantonal Court, which scheduled a session for tomorrow regarding the extension of his detention. Berilo's lawyer has requested the court to postpone this session.

- It is true that my client Ibro Berilo underwent urgent surgery. His detention expires on Sunday, and due to the new situation, I have requested that the session not be held before Friday because he was operated on yesterday. It is up to the court to decide whether to grant the request we submitted - said Pizović.

To recall, Berilo was arrested on August 5 and is suspected of abuse of office.

He was re-elected as the mayor of Trnovo in the recently held Local Elections.
