Ibrahimović: We have not, nor will we give money to projects that do not memorialize the genocide

(Patria) - The Office of the Sarajevo Canton Government for Support to Srebrenica did not allocate funds to the Association for the Development of Culture and Tourism Mozaik Srebrenica, said today the head of the Office, Mirza Ibrahimović.

Ibrahimović spoke at a press conference about information that appeared in the public after the publication of preliminary lists for the allocation of funds under previously announced public calls for sustainable return.

Emphasizing how much he values the role and importance of the Movement of Mothers of the Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves and other associations they cooperate with, he stressed that all funds of the Office are planned for victims of genocide and their families.

Speaking about the preliminary lists, he said that these are not administrative acts, i.e., documents that are binding.

- Funds have not been, nor will they ever be, allocated to projects that are not in accordance with the law and that do not memorialize the genocide, that do not help victims of genocide and returnees - says Ibrahimović.

(Patria) - Four associations of mothers and women victims of genocide express their displeasure and strongly condemn the decision of the Office of the KS Government for Support to Srebrenica, i.e., the Commission for the Implementation of the Public Call for Support to Sustainable Development Activities in the Area

Referring to the work of the Office he heads, he said that in cooperation with the Government, they supported the work of the Memorial Center in the amount of 200,000 KM, that they also financially helped the organization of the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the genocide with 100,000 KM, i.e., the burial of victims and the Peace March, and participated in co-financing the creation and installation of a monument to victims of genocide in New York.

He explained that the Office was only established in April this year, that it has only one employee, and that the Civil Service Agency of the FBiH is currently conducting the process of hiring employees.

- I hope that as soon as possible the Office will be capacitated and start working at full capacity - stated Ibrahimović.

He added that an initiative will be launched to amend, i.e., improve the Law on Special Programs of the KS for the Memorialization of Genocide, Support for Return and Development of Srebrenica, Assistance to Victims and Families of Victims of Genocide against Bosniaks of the UN Safe Area Srebrenica.
