Boasted on Twitter: We have a radioactive bomb in Europe!

Muslim Al-Britani, an alleged weapons expert working for the Islamic State (IS), posted on his Twitter profile that IS possesses a radioactive bomb now located in Europe, writes Free Beacon, as reported by the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Militants had previously stolen certain material for making weapons from a university research center in the Iraqi city of Mosul, but which, according to scientists, does not have great destructive power.

Some U.S. government officials have expressed concern that IS could attempt to smuggle nuclear and radioactive material out of Iraq.

Former Pentagon adviser Michael Rubin says that an announcement of the detonation of such a bomb should be given great attention.

“Counterterrorism services often plan to prevent the repetition of the last terrorist attacks, while terrorists are constantly trying to shock with something new,” he said, adding that Al-Britani may be lying to “psychologically” disturb Europe, but that this is now difficult to assess.

The social network Twitter has meanwhile blocked his profile.

“Terrorist groups have the motivation and now, thanks to the vacuum created by the withdrawal from Iraq, they also have the means to strike the West as never before,” Rubin concluded.
