Mufti Smajlović's sermon: Mosques are centers for upbringing and maintaining human dignity

(Patria) - On the occasion of Mosque Day, the sermon in the Ferhadija mosque in Banja Luka was delivered today by Banja Luka Mufti Ismail-ef. Smajlović, emphasizing the importance of mosques as spiritual and civilizational foundations of Muslim identity.

"Mosques are centers for upbringing, preserving human dignity and community," Mufti Smajlović conveyed in the sermon, which was read in all mosques in our country on this occasion.

He reminded those present of the historical suffering of mosques in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially during the aggression against the country, and clearly stated that the destruction of places of worship is a blow to the very essence of human and religious values.

"By destroying Ferhadija, Arnaudija, Aladža and other mosques across Bosnia and Herzegovina, the perpetrators desecrated what every civilized person respects, and what a Muslim considers sacred, pure and inviolable," said Mufti Smajlović.

Quoting a Quranic verse: "And [He revealed] that the mosques are for Allah, so do not invoke with Allah anyone" (Al-Jinn, 18), Mufti Smajlović also reminded of the eternal message of Islam about the sanctity of places of worship and the importance of the community gathering around pure and noble values.

After the sermon, a collection was organized in all mosques in our country on the occasion of Mosque Day, and the collected funds will be used for the reconstruction of the remaining mosques and masjids destroyed during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
