Hurtić condemns attack on Bosniak and Serb children in Opine and Baćevići settlements near Mostar

(Patria) - The Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sevlid Hurtić, strongly condemned the recent attacks on children of Bosniak and Serb nationality in the settlements of Opine and Baćevići near Mostar. In his statement, Minister Hurtić expressed concern over the rise in violence against children and emphasized the need for urgent action by competent institutions to ensure the safety of all citizens, especially children.

"Such attacks are completely unacceptable and must be investigated immediately and thoroughly. Children are the most vulnerable members of our society, and their protection must be a priority for all of us," stated Minister Hurtić.

During his visit, Minister Hurtić met with the families of the injured children and assured them that competent institutions will do everything necessary to bring those responsible for this shameful act to justice. He emphasized that violence against children is an unacceptable act and must be suppressed.

"An attack on children is the most severe form of violence that affects the entire society. I am here to support these families and to jointly reiterate the call to competent authorities to urgently resolve these cases, in order to prevent similar attacks in the future," said Hurtić.

Hurtić also spoke with the representative of the Serb community, Dušan Golo, about the attack on Serb children in the Baćevići settlement, and expressed deep concern over this incident and emphasized the need for urgent action to ensure the safety and protection of children.

Hurtić and Golo exchanged information on the current situation of the children and their families, and on the steps that need to be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future. The Minister condemned the attack and stressed that it is unacceptable for any children, regardless of their ethnic affiliation, to face violence.

The Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina will, according to Minister Hurtić, take all necessary steps within its jurisdiction to support the families affected by these incidents and ensure that justice is served.

Hurtić also appealed to the communities to show unity and mutual respect, and to refrain from any actions that could further damage social relations.
