Hurtić after the attack in Bratunac: Perpetrators must be urgently arrested and prosecuted, this is a nationalist act

Minister for Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sevlid Hurtić on Monday most strongly condemned, as he stated, the brutal and cowardly attack on young Osman Mehanović, which took place on June 23 in the evening, in the center of Bratunac.

"I demand that the police and prosecution urgently arrest and prosecute the perpetrators who committed this criminal offense, according to the victim's claim, on a nationalist basis. Unfortunately, after the brutal beating of the married couple Memišević in Višegrad during the most select month for Muslims - Ramadan, which has not yet been clarified, this time, on the eve of Kurban-Bajram, a returnee was attacked again, who suffered serious bodily injuries," Hurtić's reaction states.

The state minister points out that the non-prosecution of perpetrators and robbers further encourages new attackers to commit similar criminal offenses, which creates great insecurity among returnees, who daily demand that relevant state institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina be involved in clarifying the attacks.

"I demand that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska provide all citizens in this entity, especially in areas of significant return, with a safe environment for living. I especially appeal for increased security measures in returnee communities in the coming days during the celebration of the great holiday of Kurban-Bajram," Hurtić emphasized.
