Croatia has only one tennis player among the top 100

(Patria) - After almost 16 full years, Marin Čilić has dropped out of the top 100 tennis players in the world.

With 6,109 points, Čilić is in 102nd place on the new ATP singles rankings, led by the new Wimbledon champion, Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.

Čilić's drop is a consequence of not playing due to injury and knee surgery, which has limited him to only one match played this year.

His return to the court is expected next week at the Plava Laguna Croatia Open in Umag.

Thus, Borna Ćorić is currently the only Croatian tennis player in the Top 100. Ćorić dropped one position and now occupies 15th place.

By winning his second Grand Slam title, and his first at Wimbledon, Carlos Alcaraz has solidified his top spot in the rankings with 9,675 points.

Serbian Novak Đoković is second with 8,795 points, and Russian Daniil Medvedev is third (6,520).

There were no changes among the top ten tennis players in the world, so Norwegian Casper Ruud remained in fourth place (5,005), and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in fifth (4,850).

Sixth is Dane Holger Rune (4,825), who is expected to be the top seed at the 33rd edition of the Umag ATP tournament next week, reports Sportklub.
