(Patria) - The Chair of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and candidate of the alleged 12 parties for member of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, last week, on his own initiative, joined the European Union's stance declaring the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization.
Although this is a regular military formation defending itself from attacks, EU leaders, along with Denis Bećirović, decided to label the defense of an internationally recognized state as terrorist.
Just a few days later, the Chair's wife, Mirela Bećirović, found herself in the company of the wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, at a rather bizarre event on child safety and the challenges of AI technology, organized by the wife of the US President, Melania Trump.
Aligning Bosnia and Herzegovina with attacks on Iran and with Mrs. Netanyahu was met with extreme indignation, even contempt, by the Bosnian-Herzegovinian, especially Bosniak, public.
However, the silence of certain political organizations that supported Denis Bećirović's candidacy for a new term in the BiH Presidency is interesting.
While it was expected that political representatives of the Troika would side with the Bećirović couple, since they share the same political views on Bosnia and Herzegovina's relations to conflicts in the Middle East and Iran—with Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković (NIP) being particularly protective of the Bećirovićs—the tacit support of NES and the Naprijed party for the denunciation of Iranian regular military formations and their labeling as terrorists, as well as support for socializing with the Netanyahus at a time when genocide is being committed against the Muslims of Gaza and children are being killed in Iran, is nonetheless surprising.
The tacit support of NES for the Bećirovićs is all the more unprincipled given that Nermin Ogrešević (NES) and Rifat Hozanović, who is a sort of spiritual leader of NES, have for decades built an image of individuals enamored with the beauties of Isfahan. Despite this, NES has not spoken out about Bećirović's denunciation of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
The leader of the "Naprijed" party, Šemsudin Mehmedović, one of the wartime cadres of the Party of Democratic Action, also remained silent. He too knows very well what Iran's role was in the defense of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and is also known for delivering moralistic tirades about genocide, yet this time he remained silent on the Bećirovićs' closeness to the Netanyahu family.
