Hohmann bids farewell to Novalić, discusses Aluminij

(Patria) - Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Fadil Novalić received today at the seat of the FBiH Government in Sarajevo in a farewell visit the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to
BiH, Christiane Hohmann. Although the visit was of a courtesy nature, unavoidable topics of discussion were the current situation in BiH, government formation, economic restructuring, „Aluminij“, and the word economy dominated throughout the meeting.

Because, as emphasized, without faster economic development there is no progress, political or any other stability, stopping the departure of young people, or strengthening the rule of law. Novalić highlighted the importance of good relations between the two countries, especially in terms of trade exchange and German investments in BiH's economy. In this regard, it was stated that strengthening the rule of law and creating a more attractive business environment are conditions without which it will not be possible to move forward in the development of the domestic market and economy.

Regarding „Aluminij“, Novalić expressed regret that the company has come into such a situation, primarily due to the state of the global aluminum market, which is currently extremely unfavorable for this company, but also due to evident shortcomings in management within „Aluminij“. He called the cessation of operations of the Mostar plant the ruthlessness of economics over politics, emphasizing that it is primarily an economic issue and can only be resolved through economic measures.

Ambassador Hohmann wished her host to continue the reform path he has started, saying that our country will, as before, have the support of the Federal Republic of Germany on the path to the
European Union. As a sign of gratitude for everything she has done during her mandate and in memory of the time spent in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Prime Minister Novalić presented Ambassador Hohmann with a suitable
gift, wishing her a successful continuation of her diplomatic career in the capital of Estonia, Tallinn.
