Will we ski on the mountains for May Day, 261 cm of snow on Bjelašnica

Spring has officially arrived, but the weather conditions in our country are more reminiscent of the beginning of winter, writes the Patria News Agency.

Due to the snow cover that has created very good conditions for skiing in April on the Olympic mountains of Bjelašnica and Igman, the ski season will be extended until the end of the month. The most optimistic forecasts suggest that some are hoping for skiing on May Day, which is not impossible, as 261 centimeters of snow were measured on Bjelašnica today, and 16 centimeters of new snow fell in the past 24 hours.

This situation suits the Sarajevo company ZOI'84 the most, which was practically on the verge of bankruptcy just before this winter.

The 2014/2015 winter tourist season on the Olympic mountains of Bjelašnica and Igman opened on December 21st last year and was supposed to end on April 15th. This season was also marked by a record number of tourists on the Olympic beauties. In January alone this year, Sarajevo was visited by 13,472 tourists, which is five percent more compared to the same month last year.

The majority of guests were from Croatia, Turkey, Slovenia, Serbia, South Korea, and Germany, and tourists from 83 countries visited the Sarajevo Canton in January this year.
