Cold shower in Skenderija: Bosnia and Herzegovina handball players lose to Austria in a dramatic match

The Bosnia and Herzegovina national handball team lost to Austria 23:22 in a dramatic match in the 2nd round of Group 3 of the qualifications for the 2018 European Championship in Croatia, played at home in Skenderija, Patria reports.

With this defeat, the handball players moved further away from their goal – qualification for the European Championship. It was a cold shower, as everyone expected a win, because Austria is our direct competitor for second place.

The handball Dragons went into halftime with a two-goal lead, 11:9, but that advantage disappeared in the second half, and we constantly tried to catch up with the Austrians, who were exceptionally spirited and mobile tonight. We managed to do so three minutes before the end, after several consecutive mistakes, bringing the match to a tie at 21:21.

However, despite the excellent goalkeeper Nebojša Grahovac, we had no luck in the continuation, thus recording our second consecutive defeat in these qualifiers.

The qualifiers continue in May next year with a two-legged tie against Finland.
