HKD Napredak marks 25 years since the renewal of its work

At the KŠC St. Joseph in Sarajevo, on 19 and 20 September, a Youth Conference (of Napredak members and former scholarship holders) will be held on the occasion of 25 years since the renewal of the work of the Croatian Cultural Society Napredak. The celebration begins on Saturday at 4 p.m., reports the Patria news agency.

The Croatian Cultural Society Napredak originated from the Croatian Support Society for Needy Students of Secondary and Higher Schools from Bosnia and Herzegovina, founded in Mostar in 1902, and the Croatian Society for Placing Children in Crafts and Trade, founded in Sarajevo in 1902. Until the ban on its work in 1949, Napredak educated and helped educate about 16,000 pupils and students, and since its renewal in 1990, it has awarded over 2,850 scholarships.

As the basic and original goal since the founding of Napredak was and remains the scholarship of young and talented students, organizing a youth conference, which will be attended by over 200 young people from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina (from Tuzla, Lukavac, Srebrenik, Brčko, Busovača, Zenica, Vitez, Novi Travnik, Mostar, Ljubuški, Čapljina, Sarajevo...), is the best way for Napredak to mark 25 years since the renewal of its work.

At the opening ceremony, high officials and religious dignitaries are expected, as well as representatives of the cultural, academic and business world. The conference represents a project of significance for culture in Sarajevo, as well as for the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Napredak announced.
