(Patria) - The start of the construction of the Ars Aevi Museum of Contemporary Art, one of the most significant cultural projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was officially marked on Wilson's Promenade. This long-awaited event marks the realization of a vision that has lasted for more than three decades.
On this occasion, the site of the future museum was visited by representatives of UNESCO, along with the management of the Ars Aevi Museum, the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Nihad Uk, the Mayor of the City of Sarajevo Samir Avdić, the Mayor of Novo Sarajevo Municipality Benjamina Karić, and the Director of the Sarajevo Canton Construction Institute Belma Barlov.
The construction of the Museum, which will be located in the municipality of Novo Sarajevo, is financed by non-refundable funds from the European Union in the amount of 4.1 million euros (approximately 8 million KM) through the EU4Culture project, within the #TeamEurope initiative. The realization of the project involves close cooperation between the European Union, Italy, France, Sarajevo Canton, and the City of Sarajevo.
During the ceremony, the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Nihad Uk emphasized the importance of the project for the city and the region and thanked all partners.
"I extend special thanks to all partners who believed in this dream, and above all to architect Emanuela Baglietto and her team from the Renzo Piano studio for their irreplaceable dedication. I thank the Delegation of the European Union to BiH and international partners for their crucial support, and of course Enver Hadžiomerspahić, whose vision is the foundation of everything we are achieving today."
The Ars Aevi Museum will house one of the most valuable regional collections of contemporary art, and the project was designed by the renowned Renzo Piano Building Workshop studio.
