The Center for Peace has launched a TV channel called Historija TV with the aim of preserving the memory of the most important people and the difficult times that the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina has gone through since gaining its independence, with a special focus on the last aggression against BiH, the crimes, the verdicts of the Hague Tribunal, all with the goal that the truth about the suffering of our country remains an unforgettable testimony and a warning, but also a source of pride for future generations of this country.
The Center for Peace and Multiethnic Cooperation marks 18 years of work and existence. Since its inception, the Center has been working on researching and documenting important events in the history of the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Center's archival holdings today consist of several thousand original photographs and video films from various sources and original wartime press. The Center for Peace possesses 10,000 hours of video material, which testifies to all the important events that the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina have gone through, as well as a library with about 2,000 titles on the topic of war.
Particularly significant is the archive of over 300,000 war documents, most of which were used in the work of the Hague Tribunal, and which are part of court proceedings in indictments for serious war crimes. Among them are all the documents used in the case “Prlić and others”.
The documentary material of the Center for Peace, in agreement with the Islamic Community of BiH, is left in the endowment of the Karađoz-beg Library in Mostar, for use in scientific research and the study of the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the last war of 1992-1995. Our material is already being used in the preparation of master's and doctoral theses, as well as in the work of numerous international institutions dealing with this topic.
HISTORIJA TV is the first domestic TV channel that deals entirely with the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the most significant historical events and occurrences, recording every important date in history, from the first mention of Bosnia to the period of restoration of its statehood and defense in the last aggression against BiH.
"Understanding the importance of the culture of memory in a country that was destined to disappear, this project aims to preserve, in one place, once and for all, for present and future generations, the memory of the most important people and events in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the first year of work, we will collect video material and archival materials and broadcast them in specially adapted TV sections such as Camera Remembers, Document of Time, Minutes of History, On This Day, etc. Within the project, we are launching a major series called Witnesses of Time, where we will preserve, through longer video conversations, the testimonies of direct participants in the defense of BiH from military, political, and religious life, numerous public figures, and citizens. In addition to the testimonies of living participants in the most difficult time of defending BiH, we also preserve the memory of those who are no longer among the living.
The Historija TV project has already been presented to a significant number of public figures from all aspects of social life in BiH, numerous BiH intellectuals and historians who have given us their support, advice, and who will contribute, with some becoming our active collaborators.
A difficult, demanding, and responsible task lies ahead of us. We must fight against oblivion and the rewriting of history. Realizing this task requires time and great effort.
This TV channel is not commercial. Its founder is a non-governmental and non-profit organization.
The success of this TV channel will, in addition to our engagement and dedication, also depend on the help of the wider social community, organizations and institutions, as well as individuals with whom we together want to create a lasting platform that will preserve memory and educate new generations in BiH", states Safet Oručević from the Center for Peace and Multiethnic Cooperation.
