The meeting, held at the residence of the Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina Nicholas Hill, was also attended by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Hoyt Brian Yee and the president of the Democratic Front Željko Komšić, reports the BiH news agency Patria.
The process of forming government and priorities for work were discussed. Komšić explained the course of negotiations that resulted in the signing of a coalition agreement with SDA, HDZ BiH, and the Alliance for Change. He emphasized that all efforts of the Democratic Front are focused on unblocking the process of Euro-Atlantic integration, stimulating economic growth, and fighting systemic corruption.
The Deputy Assistant Secretary of State of the USA congratulated Komšić on the electoral result achieved by the Democratic Front in the General Elections. He stated that the US expects the swift formation of a government united around a reform program and added that the US supports the new European initiative primarily aimed at solving socio-economic problems. He also touched upon the fact that regional and global political events have returned international focus to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that it is necessary to use that moment in international relations to achieve greater reform success within the country. According to him, Bosnia and Herzegovina can count on US assistance in these processes.
