Hundreds of volunteers in several cities in BiH spend time daily with children from orphanages or materially and socially vulnerable families, through the project "Older Brother, Older Sister".
Besides Zenica and Sarajevo, the project is also implemented in Mostar, Tuzla, and Banja Luka, writes the Patria News Agency.
The "Older Brother, Older Sister" project has been operating in BiH for ten years. It is intended for primary school-aged children, between 7-14 years old. The interaction between volunteers and children lasts for one school year, during which they spend 20 hours together per month. During this time, the child develops a trusting and safe relationship with the volunteer, adopts socially acceptable behaviors, moral, and cultural values, and sees their volunteer as a role model.
“Older Brother, Older Sister” is a project of the NARKO NE organization from Sarajevo, and as of this year, the Youth Association REaktiv is also a partner on the project and a member of the SBSS (Older Brother, Older Sister) network, writes Patria.
